Knowing I was looking for at-home work, a friend send me an email about this company. I replied to them for more info. Turns out they want you to go to check out Western Union in your area for a survey. First though you have to open a Citibank checking account and they will wire you $899 to put into the account. The money represents $100 of commission and money that will be used to wire at various Western Unions.
I'm not sure I see yet the scam here - if there is one - since none of my money is involved unless Citibank has a high minimum you need to open the account.
Anyone heard of this company? Since bank accounts are involved, a red flag pops up for me.
This is 100% scam so please do not give them your banking information. The wire transfer will come to your account. They will ask you to write a check or wire back the funds minus your commission or bonus. Then the wired funds will 'bounce' much the way a check written will be returned when there is not enough funds to cover it. Your bank will now tell you that your account is $899 overdrawn and demand that you deposit this money to bring your account current.
There are many many many of these scams floating around. Perhaps you've heard of wire transfer scams?? See http://www.atg.wa.gov/askcolumn.aspx?&id=11962 - but there are hundreds of other stories online.
AVOID ALL OFFERS THAT ASK YOU TO DEPOSIT CHECKS, ACCEPT WIRE TRANSFERS OR WIRE MONEY FROM YOUR BANK ACCOUNT.
I have been researching mystery shopping jobs and there is an organization called MSPA. Their website is www.mysteryshop.org. Their mission is to professionalize this industry by providing shoppers with legitimate mystery shopping companies to potential shoppers and high-quality shoppers for their clients. There is a list of well over 100 companies that are members of this organization. They recommend that if the potential company is not a member of their organization, don't sign up for it. In addition, the companies that are members with them agree never to charge the shopper any fees to join. Good luck
I have not checked out the web site you listed, however; I applied once to be a mystery shopper...it turn out to be a fraud, scam, fake and so on. The company sent a check I called the number listed the person on the other end wanted to know if I had a checking account and wanted to assign me a number for what ever reason I believe this is how they kept track of who cased what check. Furthermore, the instructions were to cash the check keep $200 buy $300 worth of item for for yourself (me) then wire/western union the balance to who ever the person.
With this said, I believe and feel Mystery Shoppers are scamers.
