RE: EPC - can someone help me on this?

I did reply to this ad, sent the requested amount on July 16th and have heard nothing. No training materials, no response to E-mails. I would say I have been scammed.

I also received the same email, sent the money via PayPal on July 22nd.  Have not received any further communication from them, despite emailing requests for the manual.   $12.95 was deducted from my bank account twice. When I queried PayPal about the second deduction to a "Russell Roberson", they removed it and returned the funds in my account.   The $12.95 to jobs@ epc was not claimed, I cancelled the transaction yesterday when I received no reply to my third email and saw other SOHO folks were having doubts.   So I am not out any money but would like to know the outcomes experienced by others.

When I was involved with another business I had a PayPal account and it proved to be more problem than it was worth.  At one time some "unkown" charged a $699.00 camera to my account and it took oodles of time and frustration to have them sort it out.  I was leary of having to have a PayPal account again.  I guess I should have listened to my intuition.

Go SOHO  :)

Adrienne,

My outcome wasn't quite like yours in that I did loose the $12.95. I'm just glad that it was no large amount. Like you I also still haven't gotten a response from EPC.

Right now there are a lot of those same kind of "Employment Opportunities" being posted on Career Builder. They are asking from $10.00 to as much as $50.00 for their training material, sound familiar? Please be careful.

Thank you for replying to me Linda, I do appreciate it.   I'm sorry you lost the $$$ but I guess we all "win some, lose some".  Wishing you well in your search for a satisfying work from home opportunity.

I started working from home at the beginning of the year, one six week contract which was excellent then one six month stint which could have been great except there was no performance direction from on high (both from SOHO which I really do appreciate).

Adrienne

Has anyone heard of this one?  I applied to this add, and they sent me the information.  The add is for a data entry assistant posting employment ads.  Here is the email they sent me after I emailed them my resume.

This position is work from home. You will be processing employers data.

All contractors will receive an EPC email for login. This is to be used for EPC related issues only.

Details:
You will earn $11.00 per ad processed. Processing an ad could take 30 min. at first then once you complete a few it may take you 10-15 min. You may also be responsible for researching job sites. Even though no experience is required we are seeking only self-motivated people with the desire to work in this field. You must have access to a computer with Internet access, a dedicated e-mail account, and strong typing skills. You can choose to work full-time or part-time and can choose to work the hours of your choice. You do not have to contact anyone. You will be processing employment ads and/or applications, which will be explained to you in your training materials.
Everything is sent to your email account. There is no contract to sign; the amount of ads and/or applications that you choose to process is entirely up to you. However we asked everyone to work 20 hours per week. As with any job, you must be willing to work hard and try to respond to the orders in a timely manner.

Compensation:

You will be paid $11.00 for each entry you process. For example, if you process 30 entries in a week you make $330.00.

You will be provided you an email address from Employment Posting Center. We do not take out any taxes or provide you with a 1099 form. PLEASE KEEP TRACK OF YOUR MONEY EARNED FOR TAXES. You will be an Independent Contractor.

Training:

The training materials you receive will give you step-by-step instructions on how to get started immediately. When you receive your training materials you can choose to begin working on the same day. No special software is required for this position.

Method of Payment:

You will receive your payment through PayPal only.
You are not going to be paid weekly; you will be paid for each ad and/or application that you process.
There is a ONE-TIME, non-refundable fee of $12.95 USD
This cost will cover the training materials sent to you. Once you process your first two orders, you will have made back this fee. Please understand that as much as I would like not to charge this small processing fee, we must protect ourselves from those who are not serious about this work. No business can afford to cover administrative cost, wasted time or provide costly materials (such as emails, training guide and vital company information) to everyone who inquires about this position. The Training Materials will be sent to your new e-mail after your payment is received, you can then get started right away. If you do not have a PayPal account click on the link below or copy and paste to create your account, so you can get paid for your work and purchase your materials.

It turns out this is just a scam!  What happens is they charge you $12.95, then you pay it, they send you an email to do the same thing they were doing.  Posting adds about posting adds! Pointless!
